28th November A match made in heaven?
Time will tell. Today I have just returned from my stationing visit, which for those of you not familiar with Methodist circles means I have been to have a look round (and be looked at) by my next possible place of work from September 2026.
Thankfully I didnt have to travel far to get there as It is approx 10miles up the road from where I currently am, but that was counter balanced by the length of the day which ran from 9am until 4pm; which is 7 hours for me to be on my best behaviour. It involved meeting members from five very different churches, staff collegues, a variety of people from across the circuit plus a visit to the manse I will be living in.
It was a chance for them to ask me any questions and for me to just talk to / at / with them...and that is one thing I don't really have a problem with. I guess the day could have felt much much longer if i had sensed early doors that it wasn't going to be a good match for me but that wasn't the case. Yes there were issues, yes there were 'characters' but there were also lots of enthusiasm and possibilities to do what I do best.
So subject to conferences approval and red stamping in the summer, from Sept 2026 I will be residing in Sutton in Ashfield and be part of the Borders Mission circuit looking after 5 churches.
