15th November Channeling my inner Sara Cox
Or at least that's what I hope I will be doing exactly a week from today as I run exactly a 10th of the distance that the magnificent Sara Cox has managed to do over the past five days. But what would you expect from a gitl from Lancashire. I mean was it ever in doubt. Well yes at times possibly I suspect Sara would admit herself as the physical pain and emotional overload took its visible toll.
Yet supported by all her Radio 2 family and seeingly surfing a huge wave of support from women of a certain age up and down the country, she manage to beat not just the distance but also the terrain, the weather and the fact that some of the run was in Yorshire, which let's be honest would certainly make me run quicker and not want to stop chatting to any 'locals'. And amazingly Sara did, with a smile on her face too.
For ultra marathon runners it was probably just a walk in the park but how many of us fit into that catagory. Not me thats for certain. So hats off to you Sara for a fantastic effort in raining a current total of over £9 million pounds for Children in Need. As I plod my way round the streets of Benidorm next Saturday I shall be channeling some of your spirit to get me across that finish line hopefully in time before all the bars have shut.
