19th September Snail space

Following my recent encounter with whatever strain of Covid is currently floating around I was concerned that my (non) athletic performance might be affected. I mean the next stage if my huffing and puffing attempts gets any worse would be to run attached to a ventilator. Thankfully my 72 hour brush with death doesn't appear to have done any harm judging from Wednesday nights 6 mile jolly with the Stonehills Runners.

It's now just over two months until TOM and I jet off for a little winter sunshine (hopefully) to Benidorm where I will take part in the half marathon, whilst TOM does a sponsored wait. Now some of you might have worked out that a half marathon is another 7 miles further than my current 6 mile jollies. And althought I have run this distance in the past a concerted effort is required over the next 8 weeks to get some more milage in the legs, so I at least feel in shape on the start line. Possibly pear shaped.

I have got a couple of longer runs booked into the diary in the shape of the Curbar Commotion in Oct and the Baslow Boot right at the start of November. Plus I might be able to gatecrash the organised runs around Carsington as I have done in the past. Who knowsTOM might noteven  notice I have disappeared for 90 mins or so once he gets lost in the rants and rhetoric of the Daily Mail on a Saturday morning.
