16th March No ordinary Sunday
Over the past few weeks I have had a couple of occasions of stumbling across a song and being left in limbo by not knowing what it was.
The first is associated with an advert on TV for Amazon Prime. You might have seen it, its the one where the skateboard riding teenager moves away from his inner city life to the coast, only to discover that his beloved skateboard doesn't work on the sand filled paths near his new home.
Enter his mum who via the use of everyone's favourite South American based next day delivery service transforms his life by get him a mini wave riser surfboard. This is what was the unknown soundtrack to the advert. From the soundtrack of the film 'The secret life of Walter Mitty', this is Jose Gonzales with the beautiful 'Still Alive'
The second was a song that caught my ear on the radio and then being frustrated because the DJ (is that what they are still called) failed to actually say who / what the artist and song actually was. In days of yore I would probably have been stumped and simply had to wait in the vain hope of hearing the song again.
These days with the never ending tentacles of the internet there are other options and I soon discovered that is was in fact a song on Radio 2's A playlist. And here it is, the gorgeous Ordinary by Alex Warren, which is nothing if not extraordinary.
