19th June Catching our breath
Today was our second day at sea as we headed slowly but surely back to Valetta. It was a day to catch our breath and take stock of what has been a whirlwind few days. A day to do nothing which was fortunate as it was also a day when I didn’t feel too well early on.
Neither of us have slept particularly well on this trip, not because of excess noise or movement of the boat, we just haven’t. Last night I had a really bad nights sleep due to what I’d call a ‘fever dream’ one of those night where my head just couldn’t switch off replaying the same nonsensical thought over and over again.
So, by the time I did ‘wake up’ I felt like I’d been 12 rounds with Olexander Usyk, which combined with a certain light headedness / dizziness meant any plans we had to do anything today was put on hold including a planned afternoon tea in the Epicurean.
By dinner time I felt much better, and we headed down to the Oriental, all dressed to the nines again as it was the second formal night, to share a last supper with Ali / Jay and Neil /Sharon the two couples who have ben on adjacent tables for the past week and who have been really good company.
Then it was yet another trip to the Playhouse to watch a Stephen Mulhern penned magic show called; Astonishing’ that included a very clever audience participation trick using 4 playing cards that really did draw gasps from the audience.
The day was rounded off with another trip to one of the quieter rehydration spots on the Azura, the lovely Blue Bar, for a glass of port. Our holiday includes what is called 'on board credit' of £150 each which is more than paying for any extra meals / drinks we have. At the other end of the scale are the people who have paid upto £50 a day for a 'Deluxe' drinks package which will allow them to have upto 15 drinks per day. And believe me some of them are doing just that.
Thankfully they don't seem to have found the Blue Bar and so our day at sea, which had started off with me feeling slightly all at sea, came to a much better and I might say refined end.
