31st August It seemed such a good idea

Image
It seemed such a good marketing idea; A reusable Buzz Lightyear cup that little ones could take to school. Until you just happen to tighten it too tightly.   I don't know what's worse, the straw placement or the eye contact you'll have to make whilst sucking on it. But just looking at it it's easy to see why Buzz Lightyear could go to 'infinity and beyond'!!

30th August Middle aged man living the dream

Image
59 year old Harry Barlow was today living the dream after being forced to tag along with his daughter, Bethany, as she went into town to buy his grandson, Alfie, new shoes ready for school next week.  In a tradition that is as old as traditions go, the last week of August sees a mad rush to shoe shops and discount footwear emporiums up and down to land to buy horrendously expensive shoes that your little darlings with either lose of scuff to f&%k within the first week of the new term. Speaking to Grace Under Pressure's very own kitten heal clad reporter Harry explained how his trip to shopping hell turned into a nostalgic journey down memory lane. "Me and shopping, well we just don't get on. And the thought of being dragged round town with an irritable 6 year old and my increasingly frustrated daughter trying to buy a pair of shoes that they both like is my idea of a nightmare." "I wasn't even sure what it would involve but had visions of some new fangled...

29th August Rubiales scores another own goal

Image
In breaking news that is possibly exclusive to Grace Under Pressure, Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales has finally admitted his fault. after being widely critisised for planting a smacker on the lips o f Jenni Hermoso following Spain's win and the women's World Cup. Rubialis initially refused to resign or even admit he had done anything wrong. Now finally the penny appears to have dropped and Luis Rubiales has finally seen why the rest of the world was horrified. Speaking to Grace Under Pressure's very own penalty king, Rubiales revealed, "At first I didn't understand what all the fuss was about, kissing Jenni Hermoso on the lips like that. It was so spontaneous, so natural, especially when she lifted me up like that. Then I started to hear all the comments on Twitter, the social media posts, the interviews on TV with the rest of the women's team who to be honest looked as if they had actually lost the cup. They were so bitchy!! And then I r...

27th August Did I double or quit?

Image
Daft question really. Off course I quit, what kind of fool do you think I am. Oh right...THAT sort of fool!! Yesterday, to coincide with the late August Bank Holiday weekend, it was the Double or Quit race in Shipley Country Park, organised by the Ilkeston Running club. The double or quit part being either run a single lap of 5 miles or double up to make it 10 miles. There had been rumours that the race might not actually take place due to a poor take up and it was obvious that the number of starters was reduced compared to previous years. What wasn't reduced was the lumpiness of the course, which I had kind of forgotten about. I ran for a little bit of the race with Natalie (from our church BB group) with her portable music system blasting iur a selection of high tempo dance tynes until she disappeared into the distance, despite her actually running the double dose of 10 miles. The weather forecast had predicted showers, instead we had sunshine which made it hard going as we undul...

24th August Pakistan's 'Alton Towers style ride gets 5 star review

Reviews are in and the new Alton Tower's style ride high in the hills of Northern Pakistan has got stunnign reviews from its 1st time riders. The new attraction in the remote region of Battagram, in Pakistan’s northwest, has been named 'Suspense' and it really lived upto its name. Whereas most rides of this type are over in a few minutes, 'Suspense' offered its riders literally hour and hour of adrenaline filled fun.  Speaking to Grace Under Pressure's very own rollercoaster of a reporter, 1st time rider revealed, "Unlike other theme parks, there was no queue or height restrictions for the ride. We didn't even have to strap ourselves in or anything. It was very laise faire to be honest. I wasn't all that impressed at first but I hadn't realised what the ride involved. In fact the promotional material was very vague. and to be honest I can't read so it didn't really matter." "So when the first cable snapped I was like 'wow...
