15th May Mae Muller emulates success of others
On Saturday night UK Eurovision entry Mae Muller managed to follow in the celebrated footsteps of some of the nation's previous other chanteuse. Unfortunatly it was not in the footsteps of Sam Ryder, Katrina and the Waves, Brotherhood of man, Sandie Shaw, Lulu or Buck's Fizz who actually managed to win the competition. Instead she manage to match the success of Electro Velvet, Josh Dubovie, Andy Abraham, Samantha Janus and the very unforgettable Scootch.
Sadly Mae's attempts to reach for the stars with a song which had been praised and played to death by UK Radio stations over the past couple of months ended up being musical equivalent of Tesla trying to get the world's largest ever rocket into space. A spectacular crash and burn that was left in the jetstream of a man who appeared to channel his inner David Brent dad dance whilst simpy shouting 'Cha, cha, cha cha' at the top of his voice.
At one point near the end of the voting Grace Under Pressure can reveal that Mae Muller, probably after a couple of shandies, actually thought she was positioned in second place and in with a chance of winning. That was until UK Eurovison host Graham Norton broke the shatering news that she was unfortunately viewing the score board upside down and back to front.
So yet another traumatic night for the UK's entry into the campest event on TV. Who knows maybe she 'll write a song about it?
