31st March Audience swept off their feet
In their debut performance at a local primary school, the rapidly formed and thoroughly under reheared 'Rise Park Six' offered an interpretation of the last week of Jesus' life that would give most theologians nightmares.
Featuring method acting techniques that would have put Daniel Day Lewis to shame, choreography that would have gained a '10' even from Craig Reval Horwood and a sceenplay that made the plot of Everything, Everywhere, All At Once seem easy to follow, it was a sixty minute assault for body mind and certainly spirit.
Some present were restless, some wouldn't be quiet, some with their hand up all the time asking to go to the toilet...but thats enough about the scenes back stage.
With a cast of multiple talents, none of which included acting, the Easter Experience featured a moneychanger whose prices for livestock bore no relevance to the cost of living crisis, a women having a meal in an upper room with no thoughts to health and safety, a respresentation of Judas that brought cries of 'but just say you're sorry' from the young audience,a women who threatened to gas the entire crowd with her very liberal use of perfume and Mary Magdalene who barely had time to get to the tomb before time for the performance to end ran out.
The star of the show however was undoubtebly Joshua, the manic street preacher who appeared on Palm Sunday to literally sweep the crown of their feet. With his colourful costume, immersive performance that seemed to have a life of its own and a flagarent disregard for sticking to the script, it is surely only a matter of time before Hollywood comes calling.
Teachers have already
contacted 'the six' to say that they will be using a video of the performance
to keep the children in line, such was its effect. Several are already thought to be receiving urgent counscelling .
At the time of going to press Grace Under Pressure is able to reveal that the entire cast have been nominated in every single category at the forthcoming DAFTA awards.
