30th January A twin success

Last night I went into Nottingham to see Sara Pascoe, a familiar face from our TV screens theses days being as she is quite a regular of quiz / panel shows. It was a relatively cheap night out even if I hadn't actually remembered I was going until I saw the entry in my diary a couple of days before

The title of her current tour is Success Story and the first half of the show deals with the time period between singing on but failing to actually make the final cut for an episode of Michael Barrymores' My kinda people' as a 14 yr old, to being told some 25 years later that she still couldn't sing by Geri Hallwell of Spice Girls fame on 'All Together Now' yet another TV show.

As she continued to share in this very autobiographical show Sara admitted that although she is famous she is not 'that' famous, not when compared to other people she occasionally finds herself with such as Buzz Aldrin, you know that one who went to the moon!! She is still very much on the foothills of fame as she reveals through a series showbiz encounters that she has turned into self deprecating anecdotes.

The second half of the show could almost have been a seperate show as she explored what it meant to give birth via fertility treatment. It was far more thoughful and philosophical but that still didn't stop the woman sat directly behind me in the crumple class seats of the upper circle from laughing out loud at virtually everything / anything she said, whether it was funny or not.

And don't get me wrong it was funny but in a pleasant and occasionally gasp inducing way rather than a show that had tears rollling down my cheeks. Yet all things considered Sara can feel proud that Success Story is the second 'baby;' that she has succesfully brought into the world this year.
