22nd January Hot Air January


With less than 10 days to go to the end of the month, 46 yr old Hucknall resident, Cal Orie Conshus almost came to grief with his New Years challenge. Not for Cal Orie Conshus, the routine challenge of a dry January of even worse a vegan start to the month. No for Cal Orie Conshus  the challenge was to mention the fact that he has a new air fryer at least 5 times a day to family, friends and strangers whether it is part of the ongoing conversation or not.

On the tram, in supermarket queues, waiting at a cashpoint machine, during a meeting on zoom, down the pub, at the football and of course whilst eating his lunch with workmates, no opportunity has been wasted by Cal Ori Conshus to spread the word about his new air fryer. 

Speaking to Grace Under Pressure's latest fad fanatic, Cal revealed, "Haven't you got one? What are you crazy. It really does revolutionise the way you can cook. I was so ahead of the curve I got mine when they first came out for just under £1,500 which might seem expensive as they are now available on Amazon for under £50 but I just think of all the savings I've made in the past few months. "

"It's just so versatile. So far I've managed to do chips. fried potato, french fries and pomme frites One of my friend on the Air Fryer Facebook page claims that he has done roast potatoes in his but none of the other 11 members believe him. He's going to put up a youtube clip so we can actually see the evidence. I can send you the link if you like?"

At the time of going to press Grace Under Pressure is unable to confirm whether Cal Ori Conshus will contine to use his air fryer next month or like many others bored with their new toy, hobby of fitness endevour simply consign it to 'Forget It February.'

  A chance to stretch our legs today with our first port of call; Olbia, Sardinia. And it was a quick stretch too due to it being only a five hour stay. Up bright and early, so early in fact that the hot food at the buffet wasn't even ready to be served. Still it gave us a chance to watch the ship glide into port past a host of oyster/mussel beds, before performing a 180 degree turn to reverse into it's berth. A couple of short bus rides later and we were in downtown Olbia. But there an hour or so before anything appeared to open, the disadvantage of being early birds and something we don't seem to learn! 7th May Naples

 I'm sure I've heard the phrase 'see Naples and die' suggesting that it is perhaps not the nicest location in the Mediterranean but if it's good enough for Diego Maradona fir a few years then it's good enough for me for 10 hours. Although the millions of tax free pounds he was paid might have eased his stay. By the time we got up, washed, dressed and up to The Kitchens, the rest of the ship were already there. Compared to the Marie Celeste of yesterday it was absolutely packed, presumably with people having breakfast before heading out on 8am excursions, our excursion was simply going to be the city of Naples itself as possible trips to Vesuvius, Pompei or the Amalfi coast would have been too much / tired.  So on a day when the weather initially seemed uncertain, we jumped aboard route A for the Hop on Hop off bus and headed out into the mayhem that is the Napoli traffic where it was every van, car and scooter for the selves.
