15th August Channel 5's TV winner


In breaking news Channel 5 has made a last minute bid to win the ratings war over the late summer and Autumn as it releases news of what it hopes to be a sure fire winner with 'Hosepipe Cops'. 

Having intercepted all the cars currently travelling on the roads of Derby and Nottinghamshire, the crack team of highly trained police officer we have grown to know and love, including DC Andy 'Animal' Taylor and his partner in preventing crime DIS Shirely 'No Messin' Grimshaw are set to send waves of fear through the nation's gardeners.

In a trailer for the series the crack team, backed by millions of pounds of state of the art technology and a 5 strong TV crew from Channel 5 are seen to give a withering talking too to watering can users,  handcuff and haul off to the nearest Police station hose pipe sprayers and in one instance that is already being tipped to win this years 'Must see TV moment' tazer a 68yr old grandma for riding roughshod over the accepted norms of society by filling a paddling pool for her two grand children to use.

Using the latest infra red technology plus military grade night visions goggles, be right on the edge of your seat to see Taylor and Grinhsaw tag team to trap a retired vicar as he tried to give his prize winning vegetables a midnight summer soaking.

Thought to be scheduled to appear in the slot just after the news, but before either something about the Royal family or a 2 hr program that tries in vain to find 30 funny things that Ken Dodd did, Hosepipe Cops is sure to become the must see TV event of the year. 

So don't forget to tune in or better still why not ring up your local police forec and dob in your neighbours. Who knows you might get your own face on TV tut tutting righteously in the background!

6th May Olbia

  A chance to stretch our legs today with our first port of call; Olbia, Sardinia. And it was a quick stretch too due to it being only a five hour stay. Up bright and early, so early in fact that the hot food at the buffet wasn't even ready to be served. Still it gave us a chance to watch the ship glide into port past a host of oyster/mussel beds, before performing a 180 degree turn to reverse into it's berth. A couple of short bus rides later and we were in downtown Olbia. But there an hour or so before anything appeared to open, the disadvantage of being early birds and something we don't seem to learn! Not that Olbia had a great deal to see or maybe if we had done the slightest bit of planning beforehand there might have benn but we didn't. It was pleasant enough but that's about it. 7th May Naples

 I'm sure I've heard the phrase 'see Naples and die' suggesting that it is perhaps not the nicest location in the Mediterranean but if it's good enough for Diego Maradona fir a few years then it's good enough for me for 10 hours. Although the millions of tax free pounds he was paid might have eased his stay. By the time we got up, washed, dressed and up to The Kitchens, the rest of the ship were already there. Compared to the Marie Celeste of yesterday it was absolutely packed, presumably with people having breakfast before heading out on 8am excursions, our excursion was simply going to be the city of Naples itself as possible trips to Vesuvius, Pompei or the Amalfi coast would have been too much / tired.  So on a day when the weather initially seemed uncertain, we jumped aboard route A for the Hop on Hop off bus and headed out into the mayhem that is the Napoli traffic where it was every van, car and scooter for the selves.
