22nd April Not running in Auld Reekie

This morning was meant to be the morning when I got up early and went for a run into the city and possibly up onto The Craggs / Arthur's Seat. But one look out of the bedroom window at just after 6.30am to be greeted by a slate grey sky soon put an end to that idea and so I got back into bed and grabbed another 40 winks before a rather more leisurely start to the day.

With TOM's hip still playing up, it was another all day ticket on the bus, with our first stop being a trip out to the Botanical Gardens. I'd like to say that it was blooming marvellous but we appeared to be too late for the daffodils which had certainly seen better days and too early for almost every other plant, bush and tree which appeared as reluctant to flower as I was to go and run earlier in the day.Not quite the technicolour event both of us had been expecting.

We pondered visiting a museum / exhibition but the ones we fancied were either closed or had received poor reviews in the local press, and with the sun still failing to make an appearance we simply jumped on the tram and went as far as our ticket would allow us to go. This turned out to be which about 25 min out of the city to the Gyle Shopping centre, where we mooched about, bought some rolls and croissants, then repeated the journey in the opposite direction. Quite how Channel 4 didnt think of hiring TOM and myself as Richard Ayowade's replacement in Travel Man remains a mystery as we find adventure in even the most unadventurous places.

Back at 'Spoons for a late lunch, Eamon Holmes must have been away filming because he wasn't on duty to serve us our mangalorian cauliflower and spinach curry complete with mango chutney and garlic nan. All of which will hopefully give me a wind assisted boost when I finally get my running shoes on tomorrow.
