29th December Carrier X traced in new worldwide Covid outbreak


In breaking news Grace Under Pressure is today able to reveal the identity of the person the World Health Organisation believe is the source of the new wave of Covid infections that began to appear worldwide within a 24 hour period, as a certain Mr S. Claws, 1 North Pole Avenue, Way Up North. The first infection was spotted in New Zealand just after midnight on 24th Dec with the wave soon spreading westward at the rate of a flying sleigh.

A seasonal worker who somehow manages to cram his entire working life into a few weeks leading upto Christmas, Mr Claws spoke exclusively via zoom to Grace Under Pressure's very own jingle jabbed journalist.

"One of my reindeer did have a cough and a shiny red nose for a couple of days last week but I didn't think anything about it," Mr Claws began, "I mean seasonal sniffles are par for the course in this line of work and have you ever tried doing a lateral flow test on eight uppity reindeer and a horde of little helpers. As I have been following Chris Whitty's advice and sheilding for the past year, I thought I was safe and I deserved a night on the tiles / slates / thatch / wood / mud." 

"I tried to stick to all the elf and safety advice but its difficult nigh impossible to deliver all those presents with my hands dripping in sanitiser. And that mask just steams up my specs as well as well literally masking my identity. And please take note I didn't force all those parents to finish off all those partialy nibbled mince pies and half drunk glasses of sherry did I? Or encourange Mummy to kiss me under the misteltoe either. Not that she needed much encouraging once she seen my Christmas cracker."

6th May Olbia

  A chance to stretch our legs today with our first port of call; Olbia, Sardinia. And it was a quick stretch too due to it being only a five hour stay. Up bright and early, so early in fact that the hot food at the buffet wasn't even ready to be served. Still it gave us a chance to watch the ship glide into port past a host of oyster/mussel beds, before performing a 180 degree turn to reverse into it's berth. A couple of short bus rides later and we were in downtown Olbia. But there an hour or so before anything appeared to open, the disadvantage of being early birds and something we don't seem to learn! 7th May Naples

 I'm sure I've heard the phrase 'see Naples and die' suggesting that it is perhaps not the nicest location in the Mediterranean but if it's good enough for Diego Maradona fir a few years then it's good enough for me for 10 hours. Although the millions of tax free pounds he was paid might have eased his stay. By the time we got up, washed, dressed and up to The Kitchens, the rest of the ship were already there. Compared to the Marie Celeste of yesterday it was absolutely packed, presumably with people having breakfast before heading out on 8am excursions, our excursion was simply going to be the city of Naples itself as possible trips to Vesuvius, Pompei or the Amalfi coast would have been too much / tired.  So on a day when the weather initially seemed uncertain, we jumped aboard route A for the Hop on Hop off bus and headed out into the mayhem that is the Napoli traffic where it was every van, car and scooter for the selves.
