10th November Man rescued from cave (man)


In breaking news  Grace Under Pressure can reveal that a 40 year old man has been rescued after spending over 56 hours trapped in a cave (man) somewhere in the Brecon Beacons. The man who wishes to remain anonymous will simply be referred to as Bob Jones, 113 Abergele Cresent, Brecon.

Over 25 volunteers had been called in to assist in the search for Bob after he vanished into the cave late on Saturday afternoon. Recovering with a mug of beefy Bovril after his ordeal Bob explained to Grace Under Pressure's very own many man just what had happened.

"It was just a small opening and wow I was like Alice down the rabbit hole except without the rabbit. I thought I knew what I was doing, thought I had it all planned. but I got it so so wrong. Initially it was just to watch a rerun of the latest Formula One race, some darts and maybe relive my glory days flicking through some sports memorobillia. But before I knew it I had stumbled on Dave and the endless repeats of QI. There was just no turning back. I don't think the six pack of beers in my football themed fridge helped to be honest. Not able to find my way out I just decided to wait until help arrived!"

The alarm was raised by his wife long suffering wife, Sharon after Bob hadn't surfaced as planned to watch Strictly.Then when he failed to appear at all on Sunday, panic set in "He's done it before, but always with his mates who also like that sort of thing but never ever like this. Never for days at a time. Never on his own. I'd tried texting but its pretty bad reception around here. I trying shouting into the cave but again nothing. it was as if he had just disappeared into a giant void."

A member of the South and Mid Wales Cave Rescue Team added, "It was only the whiff of overpowering after shave and the crumbs from an partially eaten Greggs pasty that allowed us to find Bob in time. Otherwise he could have been a gonner!"

  A chance to stretch our legs today with our first port of call; Olbia, Sardinia. And it was a quick stretch too due to it being only a five hour stay. Up bright and early, so early in fact that the hot food at the buffet wasn't even ready to be served. Still it gave us a chance to watch the ship glide into port past a host of oyster/mussel beds, before performing a 180 degree turn to reverse into it's berth. A couple of short bus rides later and we were in downtown Olbia. But there an hour or so before anything appeared to open, the disadvantage of being early birds and something we don't seem to learn! 7th May Naples

 I'm sure I've heard the phrase 'see Naples and die' suggesting that it is perhaps not the nicest location in the Mediterranean but if it's good enough for Diego Maradona fir a few years then it's good enough for me for 10 hours. Although the millions of tax free pounds he was paid might have eased his stay. By the time we got up, washed, dressed and up to The Kitchens, the rest of the ship were already there. Compared to the Marie Celeste of yesterday it was absolutely packed, presumably with people having breakfast before heading out on 8am excursions, our excursion was simply going to be the city of Naples itself as possible trips to Vesuvius, Pompei or the Amalfi coast would have been too much / tired.  So on a day when the weather initially seemed uncertain, we jumped aboard route A for the Hop on Hop off bus and headed out into the mayhem that is the Napoli traffic where it was every van, car and scooter for the selves.
