21st August Homeward bound

Unlike Paul Simon, neither Tom nor I were' sitting at a railway station, with a ticket for our destination' and yet we were inextricably connected with the more diminuative member of the 1960's most famous folks group, Simon & Garfunkle, by the fact that we were indeed homeward bound, the final day of our Yorkshire based jolly.

Having packed and left our AirB&B in the manner we would have expected to find it, we hit the road headed for our first port of call Skipton. Leaving Harrogate and seeing a large billboard advertising 'Freeze Fat Reduction 50% off ' we wondered if this was referring to the amount of fat that would be lost or a reduction in the fee that needed to be paid? And we couldn't help giggling as we drove past a signpost for the location in which we were sure this procedure must take place, the wonderfully named Blubberbottoms!

Skipton itself was a hive of activity with it being market day and unlike the other places we had visited most of the folks pottering about appeared to be locals. Mooching and meadering, quaffing coffee and consuming carrot cake, it was the only place we have visited where we both picked up a souvenier to remind us of our trip: in TOM's case a book about steam trains and for me...a tin opener!

Lunch with one of TOM's friends in Earby, (a mouth watering steak and ale pie), a dismall drive through the suburbs of Bradford,(immediatly removed from out to visit list) an underwhelming curd tart on the outskirts of Sheffield with one of TOM's ladies of leasure and we finally arrived home a little after 6pm. The end of part 1.

What do you mean I hear you all ask in unison 'part 1?' Do you mean there are more exciting adventures to come? Oh still you're beating hearts, my faithful followers for all will be revealed!! I mean after exposing you to little bits of heaven each day it's only fair to warn you the next installments might take you to Hell. Or did I mean Hull? Only time will tell.
